Be encouraged! I have a cross stitch/custom frame shop in North Carolina, and I am going strong. I have a designer that I email, Paulette Stewart from Plum Street Samplers, and we have had the conversation about cross stitch "going out". It never will. There were a lot of people that stitched because it was a trend at the time, but serious stitchers like myself and many many more out there will always keep this wonderful art form alive. We that still stitch will have to pride ourselves on the quality of our work, and try to do new and better things, stitch on better fabrics and use different types of fibers. We are "needle artists" and that is something to be proud of. I try to encourage my customers that are afraid of linen to try a small design, and see how they like it. Step outside the box! We will always be around, but now you have quality, not quantity!
