I am working on a kit from Dimensions which is calling for black aida, but wondering if there is anything else I can use, besides a white pillowcase on my lap to see the holes.

I place a small table lamp on the floor near my chair and the light from that helps see the holes while stitching. Also i usually wear light colored pants, then I don't have to cover my lap with a cloth. :) Go to top

Working with black fabric isn't as tough as it's make out to be. Just use good lighting and you'll do fine. Go to top

I find it impossible to work on black aida, even with a good daylight lamp, so I work on ecru or white aida and stitch what is left of the aida with black thread, it works for me! Go to top
