I have read that some of you buy a soap to wash your stitching in. I think it was called Orvus. Where can you buy this? I haven't been able to locate it.

You can buy this in most quilt shops. Ordinary liquid dish soap works well too. I've used liquid dish soap since I begain cross stitching in the early 80s with much success. Orvus is a good product but very very little goes a long way. For a small project half of a 1/4 teaspoon will be more than enough to wash your piece successfully. The most important thing to remember when washing your work is to really rinse well, don't wring it out but roll in a towel and then iron face down on a padded surface made up of towels. Finally let the piece dry at least overnight before you begin finishing or framing. Go to top

Palmolive or Dawn dish soap is gentle enough to use on needlework and doesn't leave any residue. NEVER use Woolite, as it leaves conditioners on the fabric that may eventually show up at stains. The other thing you can use is Oxyclean, which is wonderful. While Orvus is great, it is extremely expensive and not easy to locate. Go to top

for yes, that is what I have always used since I have been stitching 16yrs now, is my Dawn dishwashing soap. And I have never had any problems with it all. Just roll it up in am towel to drain out the water, and then iron it.
