I designed my own pattern, but I am not sure how to transfer it to a cross stitch pattern. I have tried to use the blank graph, but I cant get the finished size I want (8x10). Any suggestions??

I am not sure what you mean when you say you have designed your own pattern. I design my charts on graph paper at the very beginning. If you want your design to be a certain size, you will need to mark off that space on the graph paper, and adjust your design to fit. Go to top

I used a drawing program. I am going to transfer the design to the graph I printed from this site and go from there. I am using 18 count aida. I will keep playing with it. Thanks for your help. From now on I am designing on graph paper. LOL Go to top

Shannon, there are many software programs out there that can be used to design cross-stitch charts, but I have not found one that satisfies my creativity! I always start with graph paper and pencil. If I have a frame that would be appropriate for that particular idea, I keep that in mind while designing. I also stay informed about the standard sizes of purchased frames. Currently, I am ready to frame a Birth Record I did for my 2-year-old grandson. (Yes, I know I am quite late!) It will go into a 12 X 12 inch frame. The Birth Record for our 6-month-old granddaughter will be put into a shadowbox frame I purchased at 1/2 price from Hobby Lobby yesterday. Frames do not have to be custom made - they are far too expensive for our budget.
