DMC Variegated Floss-Old

I was hugely into cross stitching before my son was born in 2004 and got away from it for several years. I recently went through my supply of wound on cards DMC floss and compared it to the shopping list at the DMC website to see what I might be missing. I found a bunch of the variegated floss number that are apparently no longer being made? I know DMC doesn't discontinue their solid floss colors, but it looks like it might be the case with the variegated. I can't find zip online about it, can someone please tell me when it was discontinued and if there is a previous chart somewhere that I can use to cross reference what I do have?

On the DMC website-go to the very bottom of the home page (OUR SITE section). Click on 'conversion charts'. They have a chart called 'DMC Variegated Floss and Color Variations Color Breakdown'. If your floss is really old, this might not help you. I have some older variegated floss with different numbers than what is on this chart. However, this chart does show the current colors. I think that the variegated floss is only available in a package (with all of the colors), but I could be wrong about that. That's how I got them. The Color Variations flosses are pretty much the same as the variegated, but with more unusual combinations. Those are sold as individual skeins. Hope this helps! Go to top

Several of the DMC Variegated Floss Colors were discontinued along with some regular floss numbers before they released the 150 numbers. Now they are adding new colors back in slowly that resemble those old colors but just a small shade off of the original color. Have to keep things going so we will buy a large quantity. Why don't they delete some of the whites. YOU CAN SELL THE OLD VARIEGATED ON EBAY- Old Patterns still have those numbers on them and some people do not what to substitute another color. Go to top
