Help! How to match color of thread with what pattern shows

I just ordered a mary Engelbreit Baby Quilt cross stitch kit. Got all the colors of thread separated and there was no labels on them. How do I decide which is tan and which is pale tan. Lots of shades per color on this one. What did I miss on how to match up the correct color for the pattern. My first grandchild due in October! Need to get started.
Thank you for anyone who can help me.

Shirley, If I understand correctly you know what colors go where on the pattern but you don't know which color is which. Look at the paperwork that came with your kit. Usually there is a list of the colors and it tells you how many strands of each color you should have and by matching the number of strands to the colors that would tell you what color each strand is. I hope that makes sense. Happy stitching....Judy :) Go to top

I am working on the Mary Engelbreit Baby quilt that has a nursery rhyme theme. I am very frustrated by the lack of labels. I finished a similar quilt that was produced by another company and it was so easy as the thread was labeled. I am just using my best guess and looking at the picture for guidance. I don't think I will buy this brand in the future because of this.
