I can never get the half stitches I'm supposed to do to look right, so I was wondering what is the right way to do them.

Hi Cassandra, half stitches are tricky! I try very hard to get the first part of the stitch in the middle of the square, and then use my thumbnail to guide the 2nd part of the stitch to be as close to the middle of the square as possible. It's also important to pull that 2nd stitch taut enough that it lies as flat as possible, especially if you are doing another half stitch of a different color in the same square. I hope that helps!
