Organizing Cross Stitch Patterns and Leaflets

I have a lot of cross stitch patterns, leaflets, and books not to mention magazines. How do you organize your patterns so you can find what you want? Do you sort them by type (bookmarks, baby bibs, Christmas ornaments, etc.)? Any suggestions are welcome.

I store magazines in loose leaf notebooks with each magazine encased in a plastic sleeve. I have a sticky note on the front of each with the charts and page no. that I have an interest in. You can easily write the magazine series on the notebook. For individual charts, I use those duo tang, three pronged notebooks, with the charts encased in plastic sleeves. And I have them in categories (nautical, Christmas, various holidays, etc). And again, the category is marked on the front of the folder. I have found that where I live, the cheapest notebooks can be found at Wal Mart and the cheapest folders at Big Lots. Towards the start of the new school year, stores do have sales - check Staples. sometimes the folders can be as low as 5cents each. Go to top
