I want to cross stitch some gunny sack kitchen towels. Do I have to use waste canvas or can I use regular Aida cloth?

I would use waste canvas unless the weave of the sack is even enough to use just that. But if you use the weave of the gunny sack you may want to back it with interfacing and use a sharper needle to do the stitching. If you don't have waste canvas you can use evenweave fabric in the same manner just be careful not to nick the threads as you stitch or else the even weave threads will not pull out for you. Or you could stitch the design and appliqué it onto the gunny sack. Hope this helps. Go to top
