Christmas gifts

Hi,
I am thinking about making Christmas ornaments for each family member (parents, siblings, and kids) as a gift. Someone mentioned that it is stupid to receive an ornament as a Christmas gift and it should be given before Christmas so they can use it for that Christmas. Does this make any sense?? LOL Anyhow.. I was wondering what your opinion is about this. I would like to put their name and the year on the ornament. I appreciate your opinions and suggestions. Happy Stitching!

I think it is a great idea to give Christmas Ornaments as a Christmas gift. Over the years I have given unusual or striking ornaments as gifts and they have always been well recieved. If they have been hand made with time, effort and love all the more special. I dont think giving Christmas ornaments on Christmas day is a problem because every year after that they will hang it on their tree and think of you. Go for it. Go to top

I always give ornaments away as Christmas gifts. My sister has a special tree she puts all my ornaments on that I've stitched over the years.

As long as I have been stitching I have given stitched ornaments at Christmas. Most get mailed in the Christmas Card mailout. (Yes you have to put extra postage on, but the wait in the Post Office line is worth it) Some ornaments are hand delievered, for these, I like putting them in those cute..see through snack bags that can be found in the cake decorating section of the craft store.
Remember that they will more then likely have their tree up till New Year Day and they can look forward to placing it on the tree for years to come. Go to top

I've heard of some people giving them at Thanksgiving to their families if they get together at that time of the year as a hostess gift. But I also see nothing wrong with giving them as presents too. I've just really started in the last year doing them, and I hope that those I give them to enjoy them as Christmas presents.

Since you mention putting their names on the ornaments, have you ever considered the Name Tree Ornaments by M Designs?

They are stitched over 1 for ornaments and are nice personalized gifts. It may be too late to consider them this year, but just thought I would put it out there for you for next year! :) Go to top
