Convert from Linen to Aida

Hi. I am writing for a friend, so please forgive me if I use stitch language inappropriately. However, we need to know how to take a cross-stitch pattern that is meant for linen and change to aida. Could you please advise? Is there a formula/equation we can use now and for all future projects?

Any chart that says to use Linen can be done on aida using the same directions. Most stitching is done on linen is done over 2 threads. On aid, you would just go over one thread.

    aida-one hole is one stitch
    Linen-2 holes is one stitch

The size will not come out the same.
If you want it to come out the same size as the chart says...

If it calls for 36 ct linen, then you use 18 count aida over one.
28 ct linen, then use 14 ct aida over one

I'm not sure if this is answering your questiion. Go to top
