Hanging a cross-stitch afghan

I just finished a cross stitched afghan for my nephew and my sister wants to hang it on the wall but we are having a hard time figuring out how. It doesn't have any sort of pocket you could put a rod through on the back like quilts use for hanging. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'd be very careful about hanging an afghan. It depends on what it is made of but wool has a tendency to be a bit heavy and the afghan may stretch if you hang it. Go to top

A pocket across the top would work. It's also sometimes called a sleeve. I would make a tube out of cotton and then carefully sew it onto the back of the afghan at the top and bottom of the tube. The tube should be the entire width of the afghan so it can hang evenly. You could also first line the afghan with cotton first and then apply the sleeve/pocket to the lining. A quilt shop might be able to give you some more insight. Go to top
