Preparing Fabric

I have several large pieces of cross stitch fabric that I have picked up at yard sales. At this point I don't have a particular project in mind. However, I was thinking about cutting up a couple of 36 x 36 pieces into 9" inch squares that I could take with me to doctors appointments or even a trip and gridding them in anticipation of future projects. Any suggestions?

Hi, Nancye! I wouldn't cut up all of them-you may want to do a large project sometime. For the small pieces, I would use them for Christmas ornaments. I like to make ornaments for my family and it is so large that I have to work on the ornaments year-round. You could also use them for quilt squares or jar toppers. Getting mason jars and adding cookie or bread mixes makes a quick and easy gift, and cross stitched toppers makes them extra special. If you're really good at sewing, you could make bibs. You could also stitch a number of similar things, frame them (5 x 7 is a good size) and have a small collection to hang on your wall. I like carousel ponies and I've been collecting different size patterns to make a grouping. There are any number of possibilities once you start looking. I like smaller projects because they work up fast (and I tend to finish them) and they are easy to take along to the dr's or other places. Have fun! Go to top

I have 2 email addresses. darla.cramer@gmail.com and darlamwade@gmail.com. I don't remember which one I gave you. I have been having trouble with the first one-someone else apparently has the same name and has been signing up for lots of stuff. Either that or I have been hacked. I have had the same problem before and gmail said it couldn't happen, but it did so I told the lady that she had to change hers because I had had this address for years. She did and that was the end of it, until now. Anyway, try the second one. It should work. Go to top
