Stitching a Tablecloth

Before I make myself crazy looking for something that isn't available please give me some input. Is there such a thing as a tablecloth with a strip of aida around the edging that I could stitch? I know that I could do something much simpler like a runner or napkins. I've just had this idea for such a long time that I need to try.

Nancy, if you have something specific in mind, you could always cut & sew aida (or use the aida bands you can buy by the yard to a store bought table cloth and really make it your own. Good luck Go to top

Thanks for your help ladies. Debbie - The link you gave me was great.
They didn't have what I was looking for. There was a table runner with owls that I have fallen in love with. Maybe I will do that instead. Diane - The bands are a possibility. I might use that to put on new valances in my craft room Go to top

You could always use waste canvas on a plain tablecloth. It's more work, but if you have the patience it's well worth it. Go to top

It's a special kind of canvas that is very loosely woven. You pin or baste it to regular fabric, clothing, etc, then cross stitch your pattern onto the clothing. When you're done, you moisten the waste canvas and you can pull it out, one strand at a time, and leave the stitches in place. It's harder to make the stitches a uniform size because it is so loosely woven that the holes are larger. It takes a lot of patience to get it right. This probably doesn't explain it very well. If you can, look it up on YouTube and watch it done. Go to top
