Hi Everyone....
I've asked this question to several different stitchers and have gotten two different answers so am trying to get more opinions...

I'm stitching Williamsburg ... Duke of Gloucester Street Sampler by Elsa Williams. It has the Alphabet to stitch in capitals and then in small. After that is says... Your Name Here .. My question is ...since I am stitching this for a friend...do I stitch her name there or mine? Thanks

Hers. Some people like to 'sign' or initial their work. If you choose to do this, I would suggest doing it in one of the lower corners, outside of the pattern. That way your friend will always remember who made this for her/him. Go to top

Thank you so much Darla... I've never stitched a sampler that called for putting a name on.. Some people said it should be the stitcher's name and other said the other... I'm going with the other like you said...
I've never''signed'' my pieces and since we have been the best of friends for 61 years now, I'm not thinking she is bound to forget who made it... lol...

Thanks again.. Happy Stitching...Gladys.... Go to top

    Hi Gladys,

I agree with Darla. I would put your friends name and I would sign it with your name and the year you stitched it. Go to top

Okay....now one more question... don't like being a pest... Would you put my friend's name Or... the Family name.... You know, like... say... Jane Doe or The Doe Family? I will have it done today and then it will be on it's way... Have a good day... Hope wherever you are , you aren't knee deep in snow ...one more day of it here and we sure will be... Gladys,

I would probably put my friend's name on it since you're making it specifically for her and not the family. Be sure to take a picture of it before you send it to your friend so you'll be able to post it here , if we can do that, not sure, and share it with us. As for snow, no ma'am none here for me as I live in Tampa, FL. I hope you're snow is about gone and you don't get anymore for the season. Enjoy your day, stay warm and safe...Judy :) Go to top

          Hi Again..

Will be putting her name on it later and will take a picture...It won't be framed though as that is up to her ...Some like their own style of frame...

I'm in Northwest Ohio...we didn't get as much snow as out East but far more then needed OR wanted.. We're in the country so the roads are still bad...and now since it's only 9 degrees....well BRRRR.... Nothing will be melting for some time to come and more is to due in over the weekend.... we are stuck in for awhile... Thank Goodness that I have my stitching...

Enjoy your afternoon... Will try to stay warm here... Gladys.... Go to top

Oh no that's still a lot of snow, but yup better than what the East is getting. I'm sure you're used to the winter snows and have stocked up on food, but hey as long as we have our stitching, we're always good :) Enjoy your day and I look forward to seeing your finish, if you can figure out how to post one....Judy :) Go to top

Looks great, Gladys! No snow here (Phoenix). Sometimes I wish we could get snowed in so I would have an excuse to stitch all day! :) I have so many WIP's and projects that I want to do that aren't started yet that I don't think I'll ever get them done. Thanks for posting and Happy Stitching! Go to top

      Hi Darla...

Before I got into the computer, I never didn't finish stitching something I started ...then the computer came and I did some and then saw something else and would leave one for the other... I have soooooooo many unfinished pieces... The Williamsburg was one .. now I'm pushing myself to finish...Secrets and Roses for a friend in Scotland... Don't know why it's called that since there are No roses on it..

I had a dear efriend in Florence, Az...she was a great stitcher and was a Cyberstitcher...

Don't want to bore you so will say Good Night...Gladys... Go to top
