Unwanted dmc floss

I am wondering if anyone out there has floss they no longer want or need. I teach young girls the art of cross stitching in an historical setting and am always in need of floss.

Hi Laura --I am curious. Do you want to teach these girls to stitch a historical subject or teach them at an historical environment. I have some floss that I would be happy to send for your project. It includes: floss from kits (that is supposed to be DMC) and some full skeins of non-identified brands. I also have quite a bit of variegated floss. Not sure if it would be appropriate for beginners --- I find stitching with variegated floss a little challenging. Please send me information about your project. I also have a few small beginner's kits that I acquired from a someone on this board who was giving up stitching. Please contact me with more specific information about your group. Go to top

      Hi Nancy,
In answer to your question I teach stitching to groups of young girls in historical settings. Since their ability is limited to start we work on simple number and alphabet samplers. I like to use floss in simple colors as that is what the colonials used and varigated is not something even I care for. I will be heading out to the midwest after Thanksgiving and will teach a few classes there during the winter months. Are the kits anything in the colonial line? I try to source as much as I can from thrifts and garage sales but any donations are much appreciated, Go to top

Laura -- none of those kits have a colonial theme. I have several cutesy ones that would be appropriate for beginners.

Do you also want aida fabric. I have DMC floss from several kits that was given to me by someone who only wanted the pattern not the floss or fabric. What would be your minimum size for fabric. Note -- since it was from kits it is not always the best quality cloth. The floss should be fine since it is DMC.

Are you limiting the floss to subtle colors? I also have 18 full skeins of Prism floss that is made by DMC. They are kind of on the bright side. The girls will probably love the colors.

I'm not sure how you want to contact me. If you post your name and city I can look up your phone number and call you.

Nancy - I have plenty of aida and other fabrics suitable for projects so am good with that - the DMC floss would be great - the Prism floss would not be "period" correct color wise so will pass on that as well as the kits although I thank you for the offers. I can give you the address where I will be after Thanksgiving if you want to send it there.

Laura -- Just let me know where to send the floss. I have the DMC skeins from several patterns. I also have a lot of partially used DMC floss wound on bobbins. Are there colors that you DON'T want. I have some full skeins that I am willing to share. PLUS - have duplicate bobbins of a lot of light colors LIKE:, whites, ecru, light yellow, light gray, etc. pale pink, etc.

Please contact me in the next couple of days. I will be going away for ten days and would like to send the floss to you before I leave. Go to top

Your package arrived today. Thank you so very much - I was overwhelmed by the amount of floss and you can be assured it will be put to good use and teach alot
of young ones the art of stitching and hopefully inspire a passion in them. Have a wonderful trip and magical holiday season.

I would be glad to send you some unused floss! I always save the leftovers from kits to use in random projects, but I was going to throw out most of it since I have quite a bit now. It’s mostly leftovers, not a great deal of one color and not dmc. Is that ok with you? I guess you could throw out what you don’t want anyway. Let me know if you are interested, and I can always send more if I find some at second hand stores or finish other projects too! Go to top

        Laura,
I found the post with your winter address in Sauk Village. Is this still a good place to send the thread? Or do you have a different one now that spring is here?

            Laura,
How strange? I checked again and couldn’t find an email from you. Maybe try puzzled8@outlook.com sometimes that works. I stopped by the second hand store today and got a bunch more skeins of thread for you. I am always keeping an eye out now. Hopefully we can connect with an address soon!
