Stitched Backs GalleryStitched Backs Gallery

This is a gallery composed entirely of the backs of projects posted by our gallery owners! Getting the back of your stitching to look as neat as the front can be a real challenge. Here's a few tips that may help.

Tips For Stitching Neat Backs

  • Try not to carry threads across the unstitched areas of the design.
  • Finish your floss neatly by taking the needle to the back of the fabric and through the last four stitches worked.
  • After securing the thread, trim any loose threads close to the fabric.
  • Give yourself time since it does take practice.

I found Jo Verso's Complete Cross Stitch Course and Donna Kooler's Cross Stitch for the First Time both excellent references since they offer a variety of tips for all stitchers.
