For our year end gift for Mrs. Bellingham from my son we went with this cutie from the Cross Stitchers Magazine's "Teddy Bear" edition. Mrs. B was such a great teacher that I'd hoped we'd get her a 2nd time for my daughter but alas she is going to be teaching a different grade.
I'm suppose to be working on year end gifts...but got distracted by this amusing pattern.
I used variegated thread #4240 for the lettering which gave it a purple/blue hue.
The frame I picked reminded me of the cobblestones out front of the senior centre. This wound up being displayed at my MIL's Cafe. She thought it was hysterical.
I changed the colours slightly to look less crayola.
Stitched on "Sudden Storm" aida from Silkweaver, this was my morning chill out piece. I'd planned on stitching it~eventually, but a quarrel this morning w/ a neighbour lit the fire to actually do it now. Partly in mocking of her - partly because it's just a fun saying.
We live in a 900sq ft country farm house w/ 4 kids and 2 border collies, she, in the ONLY mansion style home in our hamlet and her home looks 4 1/2 star hotel perfect. If it weren't for the photos on the walls you might never know 2 small kids lived there. You KNOW mine houses 6 people. LOL
A 09/10 year end gift for one of the classroom teachers aides. Unsure yet as to specific recipient (will have to see who's gift I'm short on at that time), or which method I'll use to creatively finish this little Kokeshi doll off yet though.
Pattern can be found in the March 2010 "Cross Stitcher" magazine 223 Issue.
This funky haired pooch will be for Mr. Boersma's end of the year gift to go along with the book my daughter selected for him. She said it reminded her of his hair when he comes in from riding his motorcycle @ the start of the day. *haha* I know, should discourage taunting the teacher ;)
This bookmark is for my stepson's aide for her school end gift. It is fitting due to all the hardship she unfortunately has had to endure this past year (her 1st year).
I do not know who originally spoke this quote on serenity.
This was the 1st time I stitched on aida ribbon and found that it pulls apart much to easily along the edges when you start to intentionally fray them.
