Linen or Aida

Hi-
I really am just asking for your opinion. I plan to make Christmas stockings for my family...probably for next Christmas. The pattern calls for red Aida 14...I was considering using a 28 count linen...it is a scandinavian looking pattern...In your opinion, would changing the fabric make a difference? Any pros or cons that you can see? Which fabric would you use?

Thank you-
Jenise

    Hello Jenise
If you use a 28 count linen the stockings will come out the same size as on a 14 count aida as you will stitch 2 over 2. My opinion is that the linen would be much softer in texture. I personally would use 18 count aida (my favourite fabric) which would make the stockings a bit smaller but it is entirely up to you. Sounds an interesting pattern, would love to see it.
Hope I have been of some help.
    Best wishes
    Amanda

    Jenise,
The linen will give your stockings more of an heirloom look. Aida cloth is a little bit easier to work with as the squares are easy to work on. The linen will give your stockings more of an heirloom look. I much prefer the look of linen. Hope this helps. Shawn Go to top
