I recently downloaded a free pattern, but there were no little arrows to indicate the starting point. Can anyone tell me how to find the starting point? Thanks, Gail

Count across every square that has a symbol inside and then also count down. Say there are 60 stitches across the top. Divide that by 2 and you will know there should be 30 stitches on the left side of centre and 30 on the right side of centre. You can draw your own arrow there. Same thing for the sides. Say there are 80 stitches going up and down. Divide the 80 by 2 and you will have 40 stitches from the middle to the top and 40 stitches from the middle to the bottom. Draw your arrow here. I always count the stitches myself even if they are listed. Sometimes some designs can't quite count and you end up without enough fabric to finish their lovely design. It's happened at least twice to be and we are talking of a miscount of 20 stitches! Go to top
