How to convert from Zweigert laguna 28 count to 14 ct Aida cloth

My sampler kit came with 28 ct. Zweigert Lugana cloth, The finished sampler would be 73/4 X 73/4. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be. I want to stitch the sampler on 14 ct Aida cloth. How do I figure out how much Aida cloth I will need?
Thanks, Kelli

Hi Kelli I will try to assist you. I use the calculator www.Crossstitch.com/calc.html. If you know the stitch count height and width enter these in the boxes. Then choose your fabric count i.e. 14/16 etc . The next drop down box is either for Aida or linen choose Aida 14 count, next drop down box is extra fabric on each side (I always use 3 or 4 inches) but that is up to you, then calculate size by clicking on the box and it will give you the stitched area in one box, fabric size to use, suggested number of strands to use and suggested number of strands for backstitching if applicable. If you are still not sure come back to me and I will do it for you as long as you know the stitch count. I am sure you will be able to follow it though. Good luck anyway.
    Happy stitching

Thanks Amanda for answering my question. The cross stitch kit is by RIOLIS Create it Yourself 1417 Finished size is 7 3/4 X 7 3/4 stitch on Zweigart Lugana 28 ct.fabric, It's A Girl item # T51417.sampler kit sold by The Stitchery.com. Item # T51417. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be, so I want to stitch the sampler on Aida 14 ct. I feel really stupid because I can't figure it out. Maybe, it's my age.........76 and my11th grand baby sampler.

      Thanks much,

Hi again Kelli Going on your measurements I have worked out that on 14 count aida and to achieve a finish size of 7 3/4 x 7 3/4 you will need a piece of aida that measures 14 inches by 14 inches which will give you a 3 inch border all around the project. You don't have to feel stupid at all that you can't figure it out, we all need help sometimes, nothing to do with your age at all. I'm 64 and need help now and then. Have all the grand baby samplers that you have stitched been your grand babies?

Hi Amanda, Again thank you so much for your help. Yes, all the samplers are for my grand babies. The oldest is 27 and the youngest is 2/1/2, our newest grand baby is due the first week of Oct. We are so blessed. I also stitched each one a Christmas stocking. My youngest son is 37, the new daddy, He and his wife were in London this past April and loved their visit.
          Happy stitching to you too.
