Danish vs Traditional Methods

On one of the links to a post I read, on this informative board, is that I stitch the Danish Method of Cross Stitching. Stitching a row of ///// then coming back to \\\\\. While the Traditional method is the complete each X as you go.
I would have guess that the row method would have been called the Traditional method. Anyone else as surpised as me?

You betcha I'm surprised. The only time I complete each x is when I'm using veriegated thread. Go to top

I've not heard the terms 'Traditional' or 'Danish' before. I've always stitched in the /// \\\ method whenever possible. However, there are some awkwardly shaped areas of a design where to stitch /// \\\ wouldn't give me the finishing point of the area that I required (ie, to move thread to an area of the same shade no more than 2 stitches away), in which case I would stitch XXX and then move on to the next area. (Hope that's fairly easy to understand).
I do have a friend who has been stitching for a lot longer than myself and she has always stitched XXX.
I don't think there is a 'right' or 'wrong' way of stitching, it's whatever method each one of us prefers.

    Happy stitching. Go to top
