Adding beads to aida cross stitch cloth

I want to add small beads to 14 count Aida cross stitch cloth and need tips. How do I keep the bead in the square without knotting the thread on the back?

    Have you tried to secure the bead by using a cross stitch ‘X’? Meaning, bring your floss up through the lower left hand corner of square, string your bead on the needle, bring needle down through fabric in upper right corner of square, THEN bring needle up in lower right hand corner of square, go through the bead again and go through upper left corner of square; that should center and secure bead without the use of a knot. :) Go to top
