Bucilla color chart vs. Bucilla cross stitch kit color names

I started a Mother Goose crib quilt kit. Lots of colors, some of which are VERY close, a bare shade difference. Can't match the thread colors to the numbers listed on their chart. Looking at the conversion chart, the shades shown for the corresponding numbers are VERY different, as are the names for those colors. What do I do now? None of the craft stores carry a large enough selection of floss to compare my numbers to the actual floss.

When I have worked on kits that give just the threads (not in skeins), I take all the thread and lay it on the table. Then I try to put them in corresponding color shades.
Sometimes, the instructions gave the number of threads for each color. If that was the case, I would then try to match the shade with the number of threads given.
Does that make sense to you? Go to top

I tried that, but several of the close shades had the same number of threads and some of them that I could figure out didn't have the same number of threads as listed. The couldn't-care-less "customer service" person I spoke to just told me that SHE had no problem sorting and I should send it back. That helped me not at all. Thank you for replying. Go to top

Do you have anyone else there who can perhaps look at the colors and help sort? Sometimes two heads are better than one. If you really like the piece, don't give up! Go to top
