Cross-Stitching

Hi Paul, Pamn here. I went to the DMC website and pulled up and printed their Color Descriptions and Numerical Listing of Available Colors. It does not have the 16 new colors listed on it yet. There is a note at the bottom of the chart: "Please note that DMC refers to its colors by number only. Any color names given to our colors are done so by the individual designer of a publication or chart. The color names on this list may aid you in choosing the correct DMC colors and have been assigned to DMC Six Strand Embroidery Floss and Pearl Cotton colors by consensus. This list may aid you in choosing the correct DMC colors. However, the names assigned to these colors on your chart may differ from this listing so it would be best for you to make the final decision." So, apparently, there are no "official" color names for DMC floss, just a kind of consensus guideline. I suppose checking with the DMC.com website from time to time would be the only way to get the colors names DMC assigns the new colors---when they choose to publish this. One could contact them by email and ask, I would suppose.

Paul- I just went to the DMC home page and there is an article under 'latest news' about the new colors. In the article is says to 'click here to download a pdf of the color card'. The names are listed on the card. There's also a pic of the colors. I can't wait to get them!

I found a pdf with the color names AND numbers! It wasn't easy to find, and it was a very "down the rabbit hole" sort of discovery. I closed the tab, but not before I saved the pdf to my computer. I made a google doc, and the link is here:

Know this original post is quite old but as a point of information, the "new" DMC colors are still available only in the set. Went round & round with them & they don't have a timeline on when they will be available individually. Was actually told that if I run out of a color I would have to buy the whole set again to replace it. Go to top
