Help with True Colors Pre-Blended Threads please

I hope someone can help me. I'm about to start a major project (a baby afghan) after 30+ years of being retired from cross-stitching. I just realized that since the patterns (Stoneycreek teddies of the year) I chose are from a long time ago, some of the threads may no longer be available. For example, the first graph requires TRUE COLORS Pre-Blended Thread in black and silver and I cannot find a reference to this anywhere online. Other graphs require Glissengloss blending threads of various colors, Kreinik braid and Japan Thread #7, and DMC Metallic Floss. Are any of these available, and if so, where? If not, are there alternatives? Any information would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

    Hope,
You can contact Stoney Creek at xstitch@stoneycreek.com to see if they can help since I've gotten help from them in the past. In the meantime, Kreinik sells a variety of colors for blending filament. I usually substitute Kreinik for other brands since they are more readily available. You view them at the following link:

Hi Anita, I called StoneyCreek but they were already closed for the day (and weekend). I will try again on Monday. I did have some luck with another cross stitch company in Utah that sells almost all of the items required with the exception the True Colors Pre-Blended Thread. In fact, the woman I spoke to said she's never heard of it. Hopefully, someone at Stoney Creek will know what I'm talking about and be able to provide a viable substitute! Go to top

        Hope,
For the Pre-Blended Thread in black and silver maybe you could substitute DMC 310 and DMC 318, 415, or 414 which all shades of gray. As I recall, some companies consider silver as a light gray. You could also substitute the silver for DMC 5283 or Kreinik 001 silver or 001HL Silver Hi Lustre which are metallic thread.

Take one strand of black floss and one strand of silver then try stitching it. Get a scrap piece of Aida and try the black and silver by choosing different kinds of silver floss any of the ones you mentioned will.be fine to try. When you find the one you.like write.name and brand. Go to top

I, too, after 30+ years just pulled out the Stoney Creek baby afghan and having the same problem of trying to find Glissengloss blending threads and forget about TRUE COLORS that I can't find anywhere on the internet! I have had the Stoney Creek Teddies of the Year forever and decided I would finally make it for my niece, but finding it very frustrated that this design requires these threads that don't seem to exist. Let me know if you are successful. Go to top
