I recently contacted Vervaco about a color of floss I was about to run out of. They were very nice and gave me the DMC number for that color, but also said that they do not usually give out DMC numbers for their kits. They are concerned about kits being duplicated.

That having been said, I took samples of the floss from the kit and was able to match most of them up to DMC floss I have in my collection. While I do not advocate duplicating kits, this would be one way that you could get the DMC numbers.

    Hope this helps,

I bought a Vervaco cross stitch kit (Roaring Stag) as my second ever cross stitch project (18 count Aida and approx 9000 stitches !). Having read several posts on the internet regarding insufficient floss to complete kit projects, I contacted Vervaco and asked them for the manufacture colour codes for this project in case I run out of floss or wish to complete the project in, say, 14 or 16 count Aida; the floss colours were simply numbered 1 to 9. Like you said, they wouldn’t let me know the colour codes, although they inadvertently referenced DMC in their email which may help in my obtaining extra floss. Luckily, on their website you can register the product (PN number, date of purchase, etc). Then, if you need more floss you can fill in a warranty form indicating which floss colours ( numbers 1-9 in this case) and the amount of each ‘colour’ that you require; in theory they will send you the extra floss in approx 3-4 weeks. I have just filled in a warranty form in anticipation of running out of floss, so I shall see if their warranty process works. The 3-4 weeks delay in sending additional floss should be taken into account if the project is being made for a present on a particular day; if that is the case then reorder early ! The cost of this particular cross stitch kit has been reduced to half of what I paid for it so it may be easier for me to order a second kit just for the floss rather than jump through Vervaco’s hoops ! Mike -- that is an excellent idea about saving pieces of leftover floss from kits to match up with DMC in the future. Wondering. Do you tape these snippets to a piece of paper to keep better organized? Go to top

I usually just keep the card that I used to separate the floss while working the kit. I make a note on the card about which kit the floss was used on.

      Hope this helps,
