I have a 30 year old, unused Aida cloth afghan. It seems very rough and scratchy for a baby. Could this be due to its age?

If you have not stitched the design yet, do not wash it. Aida cloth usually is sold with a stiffening agent to help make it easier to work with. After you have stitched your design, wash it, and that should make it a little softer. Although I usually will stitch my designs and then put them together like a quilt after I have washed them. So Aida cloth with design, thin all-cotton batting, and cotton quilters fabric. Then add double-fold binding around the blanket. I hope this helps. Go to top
