Overstitch

I'm fairly new to cross-stitching. The project I'm currently working on has a list of backstitching instructions, but then the last instruction says "Overstitch all windows in 822." What does "overstitch" mean? Thanks for the help!

Kendra I've never seen that in a chart. Can you tell us what chart your stitching, maybe that would help? Go to top

Sure! It's by Ronnie Rowe Designs: The Governor's Palace "Colonial Gardens" Williamsburg, Virginia. There already instructions to backstitch around all the windows with one strand in 844, then stitch (I'm assuming they mean backstitch around the window panes) inside all the windows in 844. Then comes the overstitch instruction. I guess if they look ok after I do what I understand, maybe I can just skip it :) Go to top

That is a beautiful design but I couldn't see the windows closely enough but I'm wondering are there shutters or something over the windows? I ask because may that is what they mean by over stitch, you know you stitch those over the stitching already there and they are more like lines then regular cross stitches. I'd be happy to try to help if you would like to type the instructions for the over stitch but I can't promise anything. Go to top
