100+ year old cross stitch

I just inherited a cross stitch piece made by my great great Grandmother when she was 14 years old. It was always hung in my Grandparents house in a nice frame. There is no glass and they have vacuumed it and patted it to get the dust off. The colors are faded and some of the stitches are showing great wear. What would be the best way to preserve this amazing piece? I know nothing about cross stitches and the last thing I want to do is ruin it. I plan on hanging it in my hallway, that gets nearly zero sun light. Should I put museum quality glass on it? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I would take it to a reputable framer in your area. They will be able to advise you on the best way to handle this precious piece. Go to top
