Does anyone have any craft ideas for using old CD's either cross stitch, crochet or plastic canvas? I do not knit.

    Rose,
I have used CDs in numerous kids crafts through work. None of them were specifically designed for cross stitch, crochet or plastic canvas. However, I did do one in which you used craft foam to make coasters. It could probably be adapted. Also, this just occurred to me, you could use the CDs to make christmas ornaments with finished projects. Just attach to the cd and use any other finshing techniques you like. Go to top

It seems to me that I remember seeing them made into coasters by crocheting a cover around them, but I don't have a pattern for that. I also saw them made into a wind chime, but I don't really remember how that was done either. Go to top

they'd make great indoor frisbees if you first cover them in some kind of material, so they wont be as harmful. if you have a pet or a child who likes to play frisbee, this they could do in the basement or play room.

i also take them and make like that jinga game or whatever its called. stack them as high as you can and on one of the cd's write something like "winner" or whatever you prefer. stack them all up and let people take turns pulling one out of the stack trying to find the winning cd.

i've seen them put together as a pocketbook though i dont know how to do that and i didnt care for it too much anyway...LOL

i've either heard or read they are good for bird perches. get a good piece of sturdy rope and put a cd on it thru the hole, tie a good knot under the cd and keep going until you've made a cute hanging perch for birdies.

sorry i didnt have more ideas. i might have more later...
