copy write information on patterns

I would like to know how I can acquire a pattern that has a copy write. When I have students that stay with me through Couch Surfing. They usually come with a little present and I would like to sew book markers to them , so it important that I can acquire book markers.

    The only legal way to acquire copy written patterns is to pay for them. We offer a number of free bookmark patterns on this site however.

    It may be possible to obtain special permission from the author or publisher. Don't hold your breath, but there is no charge for asking. Make sure that you point out you are not using the pattern for profit, assuming that is true. I'm not suggesting that you lie! I once got permission to use a copywrite product for a non-profit use, imply by asking the person who designed it. Flattery helps, I think. Be sure to tell how much your admire the specific product and the others by the same artist, and offer to point people to the source so they can buy the rights. Go to top
