This finishing technique describes how to create a bookmark from perforated paper or plastic.
Materials Required
Acrylic Felt
White Glue
Instructions
Cut a piece of felt the same size as the perforated paper/plastic. Choose a felt color that matches the color of the perforated paper/plastic.
Trim your completed stitching to as close as possible to the stitches but leave at least a small border of perforated paper/plastic around the edge. You want to avoid cutting a hole in half that contains stitches.
Cover the back of the perforated paper/plastic with a light coat of white glue. Take the piece of felt cut in Step 2 and center onto the back of your project. In order to ensure that the felt adheres to the perforated paper/plastic, put a heavy book or other heavy object on the back and leave set until dry. Note that some felt is sold with an adhesive backing which may not hold as well over time.
After the felt has dried thoroughly, use a small pair of scissors to trim the excess felt as close as possible to the edge of the perforated paper/plastic.
